Matthew Johnson is a painter and the former manager of the MAC’s The Gallery. He loves the outdoors and the beach and often paints seascape oil paintings. His work often depicts the many beautiful sunsets and sunrises over Lake Superior, as well as various weather conditions that occur over the lake. He has also dabbled in printmaking, and often does small architectural ink drawings. He is originally from a small suburb outside of Chicago called St. Charles Illinois. He is a recent graduate of Northern Michigan University with a BFA in Painting and Drawing and is working towards teaching art at a college level.
