Welcome to the Marquette Artist Collective!

The Marquette Artist Collective is a group of working artists and art supporters from the Marquette, MI area.

We have the common goal of supporting each other’s creativity and the arts in our community by connecting artists for communication and growth in a non-competitive environment.

The concept of the collective came to a local artist  during the August, 2017 eclipse. Looking for a creative supportive gathering of artists,  Joy Bender Hadley posted a simple statement of inquiry online to start this group.

Response was immediate! Joy, along with Melissa Sprouse and Claire Moore, discussed what the basic structure of the group might become. These talented artists came up with the basic structure of the Collective with group art nights and shows.

Right away, gatherings began. The Gatherings have been held on Tuesdays, every other week, each one with a topic of discussion or project activity focus. At these gatherings, we discuss art, the business of art, art techniques, and have critiques. We have monthly “Artin’ with the MAC” events where we meet to create work and socialize.

The Marquette Artist Collective has continued to grow, adding a rented shared Gallery space, and opening membership to get a wider range of talented folks. We have themed group shows at The Gallery and other  venues around Marquette, staying involved with the community and supporting members and guest artists.

Please Note:

The Gallery, at 130 Washington Street in Marquette, MI has opened with limited hours.

Hours will vary between 11am and 5pm, as volunteers are available.
